Sails of Fortune

The year is 1519, and while Spain and Portugal teeter at the brink of war over the lucrative spice trade, Ferdinand Magellan is gathering his crews for a daring voyage westward to reach the Spice Islands. Despite the dangers, the lure of riches and fame draws 256 men to Magellan's Spanish ships. Among those recruited is shipmaster Juan Sebastian de Elcano, for whom the voyage offers nothing less than a chance to reclaim his stolen honor. Hopeful and determined as they set sail, Elcano could not foresee the twists of fate that would pit him against his commander in a struggle to save their threatened venture, or the heavy toll the journey would demand from the men endeavoring to cross the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
